We went up to the National Portrait Gallery today, saw some portraits and photographs of Gladstone and other Victorians.

It’s great how I can be reading a words and pictures book with our boy - “can you see the mouse?” - and then I can pull up videos on YouTube of mice for him. The whole world instantly to see. A long way from the encyclopedia we had as kids!

Just pushed up a trailer for the next EdinburghJS JavaScript meetup on Tues 20th. Should be a fun event!

Took the boy to the museum today, saw a Jacquard Loom - one of the earliest punch-card programmable machines.

Since H has previously bought me a lovely blue jumper and has now bought herself a lovely blue jumper, I'’m unsure if she’s starting to dress like me, or trying to get me to dress like her.

FYI: Format Coffee in Newington is converting to a takeaway and is now doing footlong bratwurst. Sauerkraut, onions & curry sauce. 🌭

6.3km run with Jack, back in Edinburgh

Happy New Year! Wishing peace and flourishing for you in 2024.

Last run of the year: 7km near Hexham. That’s around 500km this year, which is roughly half of my usual goal. I’m looking forward to 2024 running, as we have a running buggy for Jack, so I can take him out with me training. Hopefully that will help me get a few more km in over the next 12 months.

Day out walking at Craster by Dunstanburgh Castle, fish finger sandwiches for lunch at the Jolly Fisherman and a beach stroll at Low Newton as the sun went down.

Did the same run as yesterday, but with better weather and 5 minutes faster. Working off some of the rich food from the past few days!
